The Dog Days Of Summer

When you think about summer, we think about things like vacations, cookouts, time spent with family, 4th of July, fireworks, going to the lake, going to the beach, taking that awesome road trip with your friends.

But have you ever stepped back and thought about what the heat of the summer does to your vehicle? The damage it can inflict on your vehicle, not only on the interior, but as well as the exterior.

Let’s talk first about what the summer heat can do to the interior, the damage it can cause for the interior of your vehicle.

Protecting the interior of your vehicle.

In the summertime, you never want to leave any type of sodas in your vehicle because the heat causes the container to expand. Eventually if it’s hot enough, it will blow up inside your vehicle.

If something that can cause a can of Coke to blow up, what else is that heat doing to the surfaces in your vehicle? There’s a few things.

The number one problem you’re going to have inside a vehicle with the heat and the sun is going to be UV fade or UV damage.

UV Fade / UV Damage

The ultra violet light from the sun is going to bleach out, dry out and eventually make your surfaces of your vehicle and the interior start to crack and separate or fade or degrade.

Protecting Plastic Surfaces.

At Better Auto Detailing, we offer Gtechniq and Dura-Coating Technology products. Some of those products that we offer, we have a protectant for all the interior plastics of your vehicle like your dash, your door panels, anything made of plastic we can protect from UV damage.

The beauty about a lot of these products that we use have a biocoat added, which is a 99.9% antimicrobial, so it fights germs for up to a year.

Protecting Leather Seats and Surfaces.

If you have leather seats in your vehicle or if you have even the plethora, which is like the fake leather. Most vehicles, even if you buy a $30,000 car like the Mercedes C300 for example, you’re not getting real leather. You’re getting a bonded leather to a polyester backing, which it will break down soon.

Better Auto Detailing offers a one year ceramic coating protection for your leather as well as protection for all your vinyl or plethora seats.

Protecting Cloth Seats and Surfaces.

On the interior, the fabric itself or if you have cloth seats, any type of fabric as a sponge for germs and stains. We have a product that is a fabric protectant, which lasts a year. It also has a bio coat additive which fights the germs for a year.

Mold, Mildew, and Car Odors

In the interior, it’s important in the summer not to leave any wet blanket, wet towels rather, wet bathing suits. Someone gets in your vehicle from the ; they have on a wet bathing suit. They sit on the seat.

The seat gets wet. You go to the house. You close up the vehicle. The vehicle sits in the sun. Boom, you now have mildew. Ultimately, if the moisture’s right enough, you could have a mold problem just from that one source of moisture.

It’s very important that we maintain the interiors of our vehicles, not only aesthetically, but also make sure we keep all the germs out as much as possible. Same thing about odors.

What to do if you have a car odor.

If you have an odor in your vehicle, the hot weather will only cause an odor to grow. If you do have a odor situation in your vehicle, first thing you want to do is always leave the windows down so there’s ventilation in the vehicle. Never trap in an odor.

As far as the interior is concerned, summer is a breeding ground for bacteria with the heat. If you have moisture and heat get together, it becomes a very serious situation.

Protecting the exterior of your vehicle.

What does the hot summer sun do to the exterior vehicle? A couple things.

Rain is good. It’s vital for living; we all need it to rain. God says He causes the rain to fall on the just and the unjust alike. So no one can avoid the rain completely.

When it is raining and it is hot, the rain hits your vehicle and deposits minerals. The heat from the sun causes those minerals to crystallize on the surface of your vehicle which can leave hard water spots and cause damage from the acids in the rain which can etch the paint.

Anything on the exterior, environmental fallout, industrial fallout, acid rain, tree sap, bird droppings. I think that’s about it. Even over-spray. All those contaminants are going to attack your vehicle.

That’s why it is super important to have your vehicle protected by Better Auto Detailing with a ceramic car coating.

What are ceramic car coatings?

A ceramic coating is an extra layer of protection applied to the surface of your vehicle which protects against damage caused by UV radiation, rain, road debris, etc.

We offer a wide range of Dura-Coating Technology paint protection options that are very durable. The more durable, the longer they last. Whether it is a 5-year coating or a 10-year coating, they are superior in fighting off damage from rain and environmental stressors. Car wax just can’t provide the same protection and a paint protection film (PPF) is way too expensive to apply and remove.

If you are considering getting a ceramic automotive coating applied to your vehicle, give us a call for a free quote. We are one of only a few companies in the United States that is accredited by Gtechniq, and we provide a variety of services that we can provide at your location at a time that works for you.
